Cosmos Lilies

Painted in 1969
6" x 4"
Oil on canvas board

Our 22nd item in the  ArtBySydna.com galleries, this piece shows Sydna's talent with flowers and simple colorful backgrounds.  The symmetry of the flower arrangement and the chosen, mellow colors, provide a relaxing atmosphere for the viewer - a trademark in Sydna still life paintings.

Sydna did not leave us with a name for this piece. So, in researching the type of flower depicted, I couldn't find an exact mach. The faces and petal structure strongly resemble Cosmos flowers. Yet, cosmos typically have thinner stems, unlike Sydna's piece. Her stems appear more like those of calla lilies. Thus, through Sydna's eye, we designated this painting, Cosmos Lilies - a flower as original as Sydna herself.
